UV Flexo
UV - Flexographic Printing

UV Flexographic printing is fast becoming the preferred method of printing throughout the world, the huge advances in technology mean the quality of the printed product is excellent and has the added advantage of low plate costs compared to the traditional Gravure method.
U.V inks used in the Flexo process are 100% solids and cure by chemical reaction activated by exposure to ultra-violet light, this turns the ink from a liquid to a solid which adheres to the surface of the substrate being printed. Remedies GIDUE Nuova Castagnoli machine has UV lamps with variable power controls. This is much more efficient and also cuts down on energy waste. Another environmentally friendly aspect of UV Flexo is that it has no solvent residues to dispose of due to the inks being made up of 100% solids.
Due to the instant drying without retained solvent residues, the scuff resistance of the inks and the vibrancy of the colours, it has become the preferred method of printing for the Pharmaceutical, food labeling and cosmetic industries where fine text and legibility are of high concern.
There are many specialty inks available for packaging, so as not to interfere with the substrates used. For example the Food and beverage Packaging, Pharmaceutical, Petcare, and Cosmetic industries often require the packaging to perform protective functions. UV inks can be used both inside and outside of a box printed on either coated or uncoated stock. UV inks are predominantly designed be chemical-resistant and non-toxic.
UV inks provide customers many options to make their product standout. With continued research into food-safe and human friendly water based inks, vegetable based UV inks and pure soy inks the area of UV flexography continues to open up new innovative possibilities.
